It’s important to ensure that your carry-on bag fits within the dimensions of 22″ x 14″ x 9″, including any wheels and handles, to comply with Horizon Air’s carry-on policy.
• For your checked luggage, Horizon Air allows each bag to have a maximum dimension of 62 inches (linear) and a weight limit of no more than 50 pounds. Be mindful that additional fees will be applied for any extra bags or for luggage that exceeds these size or weight restrictions.
• Horizon Air understands the importance of essential items like strollers, car seats, and mobility aids, especially when traveling with family. That’s why these items are transported free of charge and are not counted towards your checked baggage allowance.
• To ensure a smooth travel experience, it’s crucial to be aware of Horizon Air’s check-in deadlines. This allows you to check your luggage on time and avoid any last-minute rush.
• If you’re traveling with firearms, Horizon Air requires that all firearms be unloaded and securely packed in a locked, hard-sided container. This container must be declared at check-in. Similarly, any ammunition must be securely packed in a crush-proof container to ensure safety.
• During peak travel periods, please note that Horizon Air may limit the number of checked bags per passenger. You will be notified if additional bags are accepted on a standby basis, allowing you to plan accordingly.

• As per the Horizon Air baggage rules, dimensions for each checked bag must not exceed 62 inches (linear), and the weight limit is set at 50 pounds per bag.

Cabin Baggage

For carry-on luggage, Horizon Air allows you to bring 1 carry-on plus 1 personal item, which can be a laptop bag, a briefcase, or a purse. 

• The carry-on bag must fit within the dimensions of 22″ x 14″ x 9″, including wheels and handles.
• It should be kept under the seat in front of you or in the overhead bin.

Excess Baggage

Travelers with more luggage than the standard allowance will incur excess baggage fees. This applies to both additional pieces of luggage and bags that exceed the weight and size limits of the standard checked baggage when traveling with Horizon Air.

Oversized/Overweight bags exceeding the size or weight limits incur additional charges. For example, bags weighing 51-100 pounds or with dimensions of 63-115 inches are subject to extra fees.

Excess/oversized baggage fee for Horizon Air is aligned with Alaska Airlines’ policy. The initial piece of checked luggage typically incurs a fee, with a higher fee for the next bag, and significant charges for any additional bags.

Horizon Air baggage fees are structured to provide clarity and transparency:

• The baggage fee for the initial piece of checked luggage is $35, $45 for the next, and for the third or any additional bags, the charge is $150 each.
• Exemptions: Certain passengers, such as Holders of Alaska Airlines credit cards, members of the elite Mileage Plan, and individuals on active military duty might be eligible for exemptions from fees.

What to do if my baggage is Lost, Damaged, or Delayed with Horizon Air?

In the unfortunate event that your baggage is lost, damaged, or delayed, Horizon Air has a straightforward process for resolution. In case your baggage is lost, damaged, or delayed, follow these steps:

1. Report Immediately: Report the issue to the Horizon Air baggage service office at the airport.
2. File a Report: A report will be filed, and you will receive a tracking number to monitor the status of your luggage.
3. Reimbursement: If your baggage is delayed, Horizon Air will reimburse you for essential items like toiletries and clothing.
4. Follow-up: Use the provided tracking number to check the status of your report. Most bags are located within 48 hours.
5. Delivery: Recovered bags will be delivered to your home or hotel unless you checked in late or chose a different flight.
