- Explosives and Flammable Substances: Items capable of causing serious harm or threatening aircraft safety, including:

Carry-On Baggage Restrictions
To ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers, our personnel are not obligated to accommodate large carry-on baggage, including framed pictures. Additionally, the following items are restricted from carry-on:
- Guns, Firearms, and Projectile Devices: Devices capable of discharging projectiles, whether or not they appear capable of causing serious injury.
- Stun Devices: Devices designed to stun or immobilize.
- Industrial Utilities or Power Tools: Workmen’s tools capable of causing serious injury or threatening aircraft safety.
- Sharp or Pointed Objects: Objects with sharp points or edges capable of causing serious injury. Note: Items used for knitting, stitching, or crocheting may fall under this restriction, though many are blunt enough to be excluded.
- Blunt Instruments: Blunt objects capable of causing serious injury.
- Explosives and Flammable Substances: Substances and devices capable of causing serious injury or threatening aircraft safety.
Restrictions on Liquids (LAGs) in Carry-On Baggage
Liquids, aerosols, and gels (LAGs) encompass various substances such as gels, pastes, lotions, liquid/solid mixtures, or contents of pressurized containers. Examples include alcoholic beverages, toothpaste, hair gels, beverages, soups, syrups, perfumes, shaving foams, and aerosols. There is a certain limitation to carry these items along with Icelandair.
Liquid limitations for Domestic Flights:
- Restrictions: There are no limitations on the amount of liquids allowed in cabin baggage for domestic flights.
Liquid limitations for International Flights:
Restrictions: Liquids in cabin baggage must adhere to the following conditions:
- Maximum Volume of Liquid: Each individual container* must not exceed 3 ounces (100 ml), and the total combined volume of liquids cannot exceed 1 quart (1 liter).
- Outer Container: All liquid containers must fit easily into a clear and resealable plastic bag.
- Quantity per Person: Each person is allowed only one such plastic bag.
Note: A container refers to any bottle, flask, tube, canister, or other object capable of holding a liquid. Most drink cans and bottles can hold more than 3 ounces (100 ml) and are therefore not permitted beyond security screening.
Duty-Free Purchases and Security Tamper Evident Bags (STEBs)
When passengers make purchases in duty-free stores, the items are typically placed in a Security Tamper Evident Bag (STEB). Passengers may carry this bag during travel under the following conditions:
- Closure of STEBs Bag: The STEBs bag must be securely closed with no signs of tampering or attempts to open it.
- Inclusion of Receipt: The bag must contain a receipt confirming that the purchased item was acquired either from the airport’s duty-free area or on board the aircraft.
Icelandair Special Baggage Allowance:
There are a few special allowances that are permitted while flying with Icelandair which are as follows, however, please keep in mind that the below information may vary based on fare type, destination and is subject to availability.
Children (2-11 years old)
- Same baggage allowance as adults in the same class.
- A completely folding stroller is allowed free of charge, but packing additional items with it will incur iceland baggage fees.
- Approved child seat permitted onboard if the child occupies it during the flight.
Infants (under 2 years old)
- 1 checked bag (except on Economy Light) with no carry-on baggage.
- Includes a stroller and either a car seat or carrying basket.
Saga Gold & Silver Members
- 1 extra checked bag on top of the general baggage allowance.
Traveling with Animals
- Animals are not included in the baggage allowance.
- Animal transportation is unavailable on flights to and from Greenland.
Sports Equipment
- Small sports equipment, like skis, hockey gear, skateboards, diving equipment, or bowling balls, may count towards the free baggage allowance.
